Spiridea Keralan is an ointment with exfoliating and keratolytic effects designed to soften hardened skin on heels, soles, palms, elbows and other areas of the body and make it smoother. It leaves the skin noticeably softer and deeply hydrated from the first use. 

Its effect is based on the combination of three active substances: 

• Salicylic acid softens the thickened skin and enhances its regeneration
• Allantoin has moisturising, emollient and anti-irritant effects, helping to improve skin appearance
• Urea improves the skin’s capacity to retain moisture, it has a strong hydrating effect and relieves itching.

The emollient base together with salicylic acid soften dry skin, while allantoin in combination with urea provide intense hydration. If necessary, the ointment can be easily washed off with warm water even without soap. It can be used for children from 3 years of age. When applied regularly, it effectively prevents the development of dry and thickened skin.

Spiridea Keralan supports the natural desquamation of surface corneocytes (dead skin cells), thereby stimulating the basal skin cells to produce new healthy skin. The keratolytic effects of all its ingredients complement and potentiate each other, thus avoiding the need for high concentrations.

Its special lipid-based anhydrous base together with hydrophilic emulsifiers create a system that optimizes the release of active substances from the ointment base while ensuring that it washes off easily with water. This is a benefit in case of skin problems where use of soap is not advised. Its easy washability with water is also convenient and practical when used on heels. Spiridea Keralan ointment conserves its ability to form an occlusion (an impermeable film, a barrier) that enhances the hydrating effects of urea and allantoin. 

With a strong emollient effect on the skin, its regular use will help prevent the development of hyperkeratotic lesions. It is also used for keratolytic removal of scaly skin and for softening thickened skin prior to targeted treatment of skin conditions such as psoriasis, ichthyosis, seborrhoea, atopic dermatitis and eczema.
